I have always bought everything online. For the first time I decided to hire a travel agency to travel to Peru. By the time Peru was going, it was in chaos, with violent protests, canceled trains and closed airports. I decided to cancel the trip. Columbia Tours told me they were going to refund me everything without penalty. However, they only partially reimbursed me. I lost about $1,500 but I gained an experience and it doesn't happen to me anymore. My recommendation is to NEVER buy from travel agencies. Buy everything directly online directly from the suppliers and it is cheaper. The agencies here subcontract travel agencies from the country you are going to. To do it with an intermediary, it is better to do it directly, because there is still no guarantee of anything and they are not responsible for anything if their service provider does not reimburse them.
